Torrey

Torrey, just west the Capitol Reef National Park, has lots of personality and charm. The town dates back to the 1880s, when Mormon settlers first arrived. Giant cottonwood trees alongside a narrow canal make it a shady spot, and its altitude of 6,830 feet keeps it a cool in the height of the summer. The townspeople, numbering just under 250, are friendly and accommodating. There are plenty of places to eat and stay, making this an ideal base for exploring Capitol Reef.
