Fodor's Expert Review Joseph Smith Memorial Building
Previously the Hotel Utah, this stately 1911 building is now owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Inside you can learn how to do genealogical research online at the FamilySearch Center (no charge; volunteers will assist you) or watch an hour-long film about the Church's teaching of how Jesus Christ appeared in the western hemisphere after his resurrection. The center has two restaurants and an elegantly restored lobby. Upstairs is the 1920 census and 70,000 volumes of personal histories of the faithful.
