Golf

Within 20 minutes of Park City are 12 golf courses. An equal amount of private and public courses provide a variety of terrain, views, and holes to play.

Canyons Golf. The newest course in Park City (opened for play in 2015), this 97-acre course uses the mountainous terrain at the base of the ski resort for a challenging game. Six holes interact with ski runs, with more than 550 feet of elevation change throughout the course. With seven par-3s, the course is not for the faint of heart, but the views alone make it worth checking out no matter your level. 4000 Canyons Resort Dr., Canyons Resort, Park City, Utah, 84098. 435/615--4728; www.parkcitymountain.com/golf. $95; rates drop to $70 during off-peak times.

Park City Golf Club. On this gorgeous and challenging 6,800-yard, par-72 public course, you'll love the views of ski runs, rising peaks, historic Main Street, and an occasional moose. Popular among locals, it's considered one of the best public courses in the area. Everything you need is in the pro shop, in the Hotel Park City right along the course. 1541 Thaynes Canyon Dr., Park City, Utah, 84060. 435/615–5800; www.parkcity.org/departments/park-city-golf-club. $26 for 9 holes, $33 with cart; $52 for 18 holes, $67 with cart.

Promontory Club. The only private club in the area to make selected tee times available to the general public, Promontory Club welcomes nonmembers on its challenging and sometimes windy Pete Dye–designed course. The club is renowned for extraordinary views and exemplary service. Six sets of tees on this course make for what some call the most level playing field on any course in Utah. 8758 Promontory Ranch Rd., Park City, Utah, 84098. 435/333–4000; www.promontoryclub.com. $250 for nonmembers; check with hotel concierge for better price.
