Hiking

Many of the beautiful hikes in the Ogden Valley enable you to discover ski terrain in the off-season. For detailed trail maps and information, contact the Ogden Ranger District at 801/625–5112; if you're at Snowbasin you can get maps in the Grizzly Center.

Snowbasin. Beginning at an elevation of 6,500 feet, Snowbasin offers 26 miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails of varying degrees of difficulty, many of them ascending through bowls filled with summer wildflowers to the dramatic 9,350-foot summit of Mount Ogden. On weekends, you can ride the gondola ($16) to Needles lodge, eat lunch, and then hike along the ridge to the peak. June through September, the resort hosts the popular Blues, Brews & BBQ every Sunday, bringing free musical acts to the base of the mountain. 3925 Snowbasin Rd., Huntsville, Utah. 801/620–1000; www.snowbasin.com.
