The small town of Yachats (pronounced "yah-hots") is at the mouth of the Yachats River, and from its rocky shoreline, which includes the highest point on the Oregon Coast, trails lead to beaches and dozens of tidal pools. A relaxed alternative to the more touristy communities to the north, Yachats has all the coastal pleasures without the traffic: B&Bs and oceanfront hotels, some terrific restaurants, deserted beaches, tidal pools, surf-pounded crags, fishing, and crabbing.
