Fremont–Winema National Forest. With the nearest access to Klamath Falls about 12 miles north of downtown, this forest bordering Crater Lake National Park covers 2-plus million acres on the eastern slopes of the Cascades. Hiking, camping, fishing, and boating are popular. In winter snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are available.
