Nob Hill

Fashionable since the 1880s and still filled with Victorian houses, Nob Hill is a mixed-use cornucopia of old Portland charm and new Portland retail and dining. With its cafés, restaurants, galleries, and boutiques, it's a great place to stroll, shop, and people-watch. A quite trendy neighborhood in the 1980s and ‘90s, Nob Hill feels more established but no less inviting today. At the southern end of 23rd, on the blocks nearest Burnside, you’ll mostly encounter upscale chain shops, whereas more independent and generally less spendy retail proliferates farther north. More restaurants and nightspots, along with a handful of shops, line Northwest 21st Avenue, two blocks east of 23rd. The Portland Streetcar runs from Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital on 23rd, connecting with the Pearl District and downtown.
