Air Travel

Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), one of the most pleasant and modern small airports in the South, is served by Allegiant, Delta, Spirit, United, and American. Most of the flights are on regional jets. A study by MIT found that Asheville had the best-connected non-hub airport in the country. There are nonstop flights (some are seasonal) to and from Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas–Fort Worth, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Newark, New York's LaGuardia, Sarasota-Bradenton, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Washington, D.C. A new airport garage added much-needed parking near the terminals. Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), a major hub for American and with service by Air Canada, Delta, Frontier, Lufthansa, JetBlue, Southwest, and Via, is about a two-hour drive from Asheville or Boone.
