Fishing

Cherokee Qualla Boundary. There are 30 miles of regularly stocked trout streams on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, called the Qualla Boundary. The public can fish on most of the Raven Fork, Oconaluftee River, and Soco watersheds. To fish in these tribal waters you need a catch-and-keep fishing permit, available at many reservation businesses or online for $10. Fishing is permitted year-round, from dawn to one hour before dusk. Only artificial lures are permitted. A North Carolina fishing license is not required. 828/359–6110; www.fishcherokee.com.
