Fodor's Expert Review Stickett Inn

3380 Rte. 97, Barryville, New York, 12719, USA Fodor's Choice

In a handsome building with rough-hewn columns holding up the front porch, this rustic-hip retreat in the riverside hamlet of Barryville has just four suites: one has a private balcony with a spiral staircase leading down to a hot tub, while another has a glassed-in steam shower and a cold-plunge trough tub. In another room, a rain shower is positioned above a round metal tub big enough for two. Best of all is the separate two-bedroom cabin, which calls to mind the region's kitschy motels with a Formica dinette set, cabinets covered with paint-by-numbers art, and an Elvis Presley lamp.
