Air Travel

As serene and wild as the Adirondacks and Thousand Islands are, they still are located near some major urban hubs with airports and easy-to-travel roadways. The main commercial airports are located in Albany, to the southeast; in Syracuse, to the southwest; and in Montreal, over the northern border in Canada. Adirondack Regional Airport in Saranac Lake has flights to and from Boston on Cape Air; there's an airport for charter flights in Lake Placid; and a municipal airport in Ticonderoga. There’s also an airport in Burlington, Vermont, to the east of the park across Lake Champlain. At Watertown International Airport, Cape Air flies inexpensively between Watertown and Albany.
