A community of about 2,000 year-round residents, Bolton Landing, 8 mi north of the village of Lake George, hugs the western shore of Lake George, which is dotted with small coves and islands. In the 1800s it became fashionable for the well-heeled to summer in Bolton Landing. Thanks to the waterfront mansions that sprang up here, the area became known as Millionaires Row. Bolton Landing is perhaps best known as the home of the luxurious Sagamore Resort, which occupies its own island. Although the village is quieter and less touristy than the village of Lake George, you can still expect a good deal of summer traffic here.
