Long Island City (LIC) is the art capital of Queens, with MoMA PS1, which presents experimental and innovative contemporary work; the Noguchi Museum, showcasing the work of Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi in a large, peaceful garden and galleries; and the Socrates Sculpture Park, with large outdoor installations fronting the East River.
Worth noting for art buffs, the free LIC Art Bus shuttles guests between Socrates Sculpture Park, the Noguchi Museum, SculptureCenter, and MoMA PS1 on weekend afternoons between May and early September. It runs every 45 minutes between 1 and 6 pm.
