Fodor's Expert Review The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, NoMad

25 W. 28th St., New York, New York, 10001, USA

Occupying a new, luxury 50-story building at the northern end of NoMad, this sleek, all-glass hotel is a departure for the Ritz brand, thanks to its emerging neighborhood, versus tried and true, location. Its double height doors whisk guests into a soothing interior of neutral, light-filled rooms paired with a food and beverage program helmed by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. Andrés ground-floor restaurant, Zaytinya, runs Mediterranean; his plush rooftop bar, Nubeluz, serves tapas and cocktails alongside floor-to-ceiling windows with near-panoramic views. Request a room on the 22nd floor or above for downtown views, along with all the creature comforts you'd expect of the brand.

PROS

  • 6,800-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa
  • José Andrés–run restaurant and rooftop bar
  • high-floor rooms have fab downtown views

CONS

  • expensive for the location
  • the neighborhood still has some grit
  • dress code for Nubeluz restaurant
