Fodor's Expert Review The Ned

1170 Broadway, New York, New York, 10001, USA

The first stateside location of London's Ned Hotel, which opened in the former NoMad Hotel space in 2022, is run by Soho House so the property doubles as a private-member venue, but, unlike many Soho House properties, anyone can book its elegant Pre-War rooms upstairs. The public spaces have been completely redone (and significantly brightened) from its NoMad heyday, with the help of contemporary art and bespoke chandeliers. Guests and members get equal-priority access to the first Manhattan outpost of the brand's Cecconi’s northern Italian restaurant (its first NYC location opened at Soho House in DUMBO) and the Little Ned bar, where the cocktail list is helmed by Chris Moore, whose mixology credits include Dante and the Savoy. The 167 rooms upstairs have had a slight refresh from its predecessor, swapping in new artwork, beds (now emperor kings), and deluxe Cowshed toiletries standard in every room. All feature 11-foot ceilings (at minimum), a writing desk, and a classy bar set-up, including a vermouth spritzer. What's more, they're pin-drop quiet.

PROS

  • priority access to hotel restaurants and bars
  • top-shelf toiletry kit in every room ($85 value)
  • large rooms by Manhattan standards

CONS

  • no spa on-site
  • medium-size rooms feel dated and have open clawfoot tubs
  • in-room coffee- and teamaker only upon request
