Why We Like It

Thompson Hotels reliably deliver stylish properties where people want to hang out, and Smyth is no exception. We love the fireplace in the lobby, the central location in Tribeca, and the bright, spacious restaurant with something on the menu for every type of eater.

Fodor's Expert Review

Located pretty much on top of a convenient subway stop, this thoroughly modern hotel makes Tribeca a very welcoming landing spot for visitors. Beyond the sleek rooms, this property provides appealing common spaces, including a cozy lobby with a big fireplace and a polished restaurant from Chef Andrew Carmellini.

You Should Know The location of this hotel is very far Downtown--almost at the edge of the Financial District. It’s ideal for exploring Lower Manhattan, but guests with their eyes set on Midtown landmarks and theater might feel far away.

Room

Cooly functional with a sleek color palette of greys and creams, rooms are serene spaces with big windows and comfortable reading chairs.

Tip Several suites have outdoor terraces, including a massive 800-square-foot terrace in the penthouse. So, if you're into gigantic terraces (and penthouses), you can totally pay extra for that.

Bathroom

Grey marble bathrooms have big rain showers and fluffy robes. Some rooms have separate soaking tubs.

Lobby

More like a giant living room than a hotel lobby, this ground floor space invites lounging. The centerpiece of the lobby is a large tiled fireplace flanked by couches. Potted plants and armchairs complete the space, making it a really nice place to hang out.

Dining

Acclaimed chef Andrew Carmellini is behind Little Park, a seasonally driven restaurant with an enviable street-facing corner location. Cocktails are also served off the lobby in the Evening Bar.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Located in the heart of Tribeca, this boutique hotel is set on the busy corner of Chambers Street and West Broadway. The neighborhood’s best restaurants and shopping are really close. Landmarks in the Financial District are also within walking distance. The hotel is set almost on top of a major subway stop, for the 1, 2, and 3 trains at Chambers Street. Taxis and Uber are both widely available in the area.

Restaurants

Start your day with a New Yorker approved breakfast—a bagel with cream cheese and coffee—at Zucker’s (1-minute walk), a classic bagel shop with hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels. Set in a townhouse dating back to 1810, Tiny’s (3-minute walk) is a bi-level neighborhood restaurant with a fireplace in the back. Try it for brunch or stop in for a dinner of goat cheese cavatelli with braised short ribs. Distilled (6-minute walk) is a popular corner gastropub serving addictive chicken wings with gochujang.

Bars

Terra (6-minute walk) is an Italian wine bar with several by-the-glass options and spacious, seasonal outdoor seating. For creative cocktails in a retro setting, take a seat on the tufted banquette at The Bennett (3-minute walk).
