Why We Like It

The perfect spot if you want to be close to the action, but can't bear to stay right in the chaotic heart of Midtown Manhattan. Ink48 delivers all of the convenience of a Midtown hotel but with far less hustle and bustle. Come for the quiet street, stay for the magical views--all whilst knowing your room is good value for money.

Fodor's Expert Review

The location of Ink48 sits in a relatively quiet neighborhood whilst still being within walking distance to the buzzy streets of Hells Kitchen and Midtown. The design feels contemporary-corporate, with a dash of glamor from the rooftop bar and Zagat rated restaurant. However, it's the dramatic views--both from the bar and the rooms themselves--that really sell this hotel.

Room

The rooms feel light and bright, thanks in part to their large windows which provide iconic views and plenty of sunlight. The surrounding buildings are all low rise which means that the gorgeous views (across either the classic New York skyline, or river views over the Hudson) are offered in most rooms. High ceilings, modern furnishings, and contemporary photography lend the rooms a 'loft' style aesthetic. No coffee machine but every room has a complimentary yoga mat which is a nice touch.

You Should Know Some of the rooms have a bath tub in the room itself; not ideal if you want your privacy but a wonderful luxury if you enjoy your soak with a view--of the New York skyline, or perhaps the television.

Bathroom

Many of the rooms have separate showers, toilets, tubs, and sinks which feels modern and spacious, albeit not so private. The walk-in showers feel roomy and the bathtubs are luxuriously deep.

Lobby

The large lobby is modern and slick with vampy design touches in deep reds and purples. In the early mornings, they offer a good selection of self-service coffees and teas to enjoy on velvet couches with complimentary newspapers. In the evenings, the space takes on more of a party vibe as people line up for the elevator to the rooftop bar.

Tip Take advantage of the daily Happy Hour, which offers complimentary wine from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Spa

InkSpa offers a range of facials, massages, and body treatments using luxurious Elemis products.

Gym

There is a small but nice gym equipped with basic equipment and some thoughtful touches like fruit, water, and newspapers.

Dining

The downstairs restaurant, Print, serves delicious farm-to-table food in an elegant setting. The seasonal menu changes daily to reflect seasonable options from farmers markets, regional farms, and other local purveyors. The seafood options are particularly good.

Drinking

The Press Lounge, Ink48's rooftop bar, offers stunning panoramic views of Manhattan and the Hudson river. A magical spot to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine as the sun goes down.

You Should Know The iconic view comes at a steep price; cocktails run around the $20 mark.
