Why We Like It

Guests seeking a contemporary hotel with gorgeous skyline views will be comfortable at this property. We love the fresh and minimal design, the views from the 54th floor rooftop bar, and the hotel’s emphasis on guiding guests to local, off-the-beaten-path experiences.

Fodor's Expert Review

This 54-story hotel on the edge of Times Square is the flagship of the Hyatt Centric brand. Take a ride in the silent and super fast elevator up to the 54th floor for a drink at the rooftop bar--it's a delight (albeit quite pricey)! This property also has a ground floor restaurant with globally inspired small plates, a 24-hour fitness center, and an extremely knowledgeable staff.

You Should Know While the location is convenient for exploring midtown landmarks, the crowded nature of the neighborhood might be a tad bothersome, to some.

Room

Starting at 325 square feet, contemporary rooms have gigantic windows with pretty skyline views, spacious work desks, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, and pops of color in art and accent furniture. In some rooms, beds face the windows so you can wake up and be like, "Hey, look, it's New York outside." Keurig coffeemakers are a convenient touch.

Tip The hotel has a partnership with GrubHub for informed recommendations about ordering takeout from local restaurants.

Bathroom

Attractive bathrooms have gray subway tile, walk-in showers with white subway tile, and Marilyn Monroe bath products. This hotel has a partnership with Dry Bar (a salon for blow outs) and bathrooms include one of Dry Bar’s quality blow dryers--which are seriously the best blow dryers ever.

Lobby

The modern lobby is sleek and white with a small front desk and limited seating. While there isn’t much room to stretch out, the lobby does flow right into the ground floor T45 Restaurant.

Dining

T45 Restaurant is an all-day bistro with charming design details including antique New York maps and the many small drawers of an original card catalogue (look inside to find cards with local recommendations). Breakfast offers classic dishes like pancakes and omelettes--standard, but good nonetheless. The lunch and dinner menu includes small plates to share--they've got small things like crab cake sliders and Korean fried chicken wings, plus full entrees (and great burgers!).

Drinking

Bar 54 crowns the hotel on the 54th floor, offering skyline views from both the indoor rooftop bar and the outdoor terrace. Views of the Chrysler Building are gorgeous, but the price tag for cocktails, beer, and wine is notably high.
