Fodor's Expert Review Crow's Nest

4 Old West Lake Dr., Montauk, New York, 11954, USA Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Attracting families and couples from Manhattan to Europe, this peaceful retreat has been created to blend harmoniously with its natural surroundings—they don't even have a sign. Floors of faded wood plank contrast the rich textiles blending Native American design with woodsy Adirondack warmth and a touch of the South Pacific. Here you're within walking distance of Ditch Plains, and complimentary beach passes are available as well as paddleboard and bicycle rentals. The on-site restaurant is deservedly popular, and, despite its lack of signage, can have a 2- to 3-hour wait on a busy night. While you are waiting, you can enjoy drinks at the outdoor bar of the hotel's private lake beach or relax in big, cushiony chairs around the fire pits.

 • on-site restaurant
 • free Wi-Fi and complimentary weekend New York Times
