One of the only accommodations in the attractive residential neighborhood just north of Downtown Santa Fe, this upscale four-room B&B is both convenient to local sights and restaurants yet with a peaceful location on a quiet street. Breakfasts are excellent, the rooms stylish, and the innkeepers provide one potentially very valuable perk: two free museum passes to seven of the city's top museums. The owners also rent out a couple of longer-term casitas in town, both of them within about a 10-minute walk of the Plaza.

You Should Know Popular and with just four rooms, Casa Cuma does have a two-night minimum-stay policy.

Room

The four rooms at Casa Cuma range from a compact standard to a spacious suite with its own large, separate living room. They're smartly appointed, with local artwork and a mix of mostly Southwestern antiques and some newer pieces, and the bedding is first-rate: high-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, feather beds, and down comforters. All of them have separate exterior entrances. The HDTVs come with premium movie channels.

Bathroom

Mexican tiles and hand-painted sinks lend warmth to the somewhat compact but well-designed bathrooms, which have shower-tub combinations or showers, along with robes and big, fluffy towels. The bath soap, shampoo, and conditioner are eco-friendly.

Lobby

The art-filled living room, with a fireplace, leather armchairs, and a dining area where breakfast is served, is a pleasant place to while away the morning with a cup of coffee and a book. There's also a small common refrigerator. Guests also have access to a sunny flagstone patio with outdoor furniture and a tall evergreen in the center.

Dining

As small B&B, you won't find a restaurant here, but rates do include an excellent breakfast with a full-cooked entree—perhaps fluffy blueberry–banana nut pancakes or a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile. Dining is either in a cheerful breakfast room warmed by a fireplace or out on the sunny patio.

Drinking

There's no bar, but you can always pick up refreshments at one of the grocery or liquor stores within a short drive and enjoy them on the gracious patio or inside by the fire.

Getting Around

Casa Cuma is in a residential neighborhood just on the north side of Downtown, and it is possible to walk from here to many attractions and businesses. There's free parking, however, and you may find that a car comes in handy for visiting some of the farther-afield attractions in the greater area.

Restaurants

El Meson (8-minute walk) is a longtime favorite for authentic Spanish food, from paella to traditional tapas, and there's live entertainment many evenings. For gourmet Mexican street-food-style tacos, grab a seat at Taco Fundación (10-minute walk), a no-frills eatery with delicious, flavorful bites. The al pastor with marinated pork and pineapple is a specialty.

Bars

Tonic (10-minute walk) offers live jazz in an intimate and elegant art deco space and offers an extensive list of creative drinks. You'll find excellent deals on the well-curated wine list plus tasty shareable plates of American and European fare at TerraCotta Wine Bistro (10-minute walk), which is also a great choice for dinner.
