The Las Vegas and Reno-Tahoe international airports assess a $4.50 departure tax (which is usually included in the ticket price), or passenger facility charge. The hotel room tax is 13.35% in Las Vegas. Moreover, virtually all hotels on the Strip—and many Downtown—will charge an additional (and outrageous) resort fee of up to $45 per room per night. These fees are sometimes waived, however, for high-tier players-club members or deluxe-room bookings, so be sure to check.

The sales tax rates for the areas covered in this guide are Las Vegas, 8.38% (4.6% for the State of Nevada and 3.78% for Clark County); Arizona, 5.6%; and California, 7.25% (though in the latter two cases, individual counties can and do add their own).
