When to Go

Peak Season: May to September

Moderate weather and the sheer beauty of the state’s flora blossoming with new life make springtime an ideal time to visit. Although the summers can be warm, it’s also a great time to enjoy open-air festivals and concerts, arts-and-craft shows, water sports and other outdoor recreational activities. Average summer temperatures range from 81℉ to 83℉, though it often gets hotter, particularly during July and August. Fall temperatures, both pleasant and moderate, are the perfect time to roll down the windows for scenic drives through lush fall foliage.

Off Season: November to February

Mississippi is a popular getaway destination for "snowbirds" during the coldest months of the year. The state’s generally mild temperatures create a pleasant backdrop for unique events and attractions throughout the fall, winter, and holiday seasons. Snowfall averages less than 2½ inches each year, and the average temperature in January ranges from 42℉ to 52℉.

Shoulder Season: October; March to April

There is no official shoulder season, but March is the wettest month, while October is the driest.
