Step down a few stairs and open the door to renowned restaurateur Donato Frattaroli's intimate sea-centric restaurant along the waterfront side of the North End. Coastal charm is seen not only in the way the food—pan-seared diver scallops with lobster crema, grilled Spanish octopus, and pasta arrabbiata with mussels—is prepared, but also in the unparalleled decor of white leather library chairs, dark green velvet backed banquettes, coral and glass pendant lights resembling sea glass, and beautiful turquoise and white tiles. The lucky couple grabs a coveted seat at the small table next to a faux fireplace with sparkling crystals. There are dollar oysters at the bar Monday through Friday, and the limited dessert menu (just gelato) offers a great opportunity to stroll over to nearby Hanover Street for a stop at Mike's Pastry.
