A Good Walk around Fenway

With Boston's two major art museums on this itinerary, a case of museum fatigue could set in. However, both the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum are surrounded by the sylvan glades of Fenway—a perfect oasis and time-out location when you're suffering from gallery overload. From the intersection of Massachusetts and Huntington avenues, with the front entrance of Symphony Hall on your right, walk down Huntington Avenue. On your left is the New England Conservatory of Music and, on Gainsborough Street, its recital center, Jordan Hall. Between Huntington Avenue and Fenway is the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and, just around the corner, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. If you prefer to pay homage to the Red Sox: from Symphony Hall, go north on Mass Ave., turn left on Commonwealth Avenue, and continue until you reach Kenmore Square; from here it's a 10-minute walk down Brookline Avenue to Jersey Street and Fenway Park. If you get hungry, the Timeout Market Boston food hall offers plenty of tasty choices and is just down the street from Fenway Park.
