Ellsworth is the main gateway to Acadia National Park making it a good spot for refueling—literally and figuratively. With two supermarkets, several good restaurants, and a range of shops, the city has nearly everything you need. Big box stores are along Route 3 and there's a nice downtown area on Main Street with unique shops set in attractive brick buildings. From here you continue through to Trenton, where there are souvenir shops, roadside eateries, and less expensive lodgings before crossing onto Mount Desert Island.
