Why We Like It
From the rooms to the lobby, the whole place is hip, sunny, and comfortable: the Quisby exceeds your expectations of a hostel, at a hostel price. The neighborhood is a joy in its own right, but also conveniently close to more touristy areas.

This chic, modern hostel offers the best basics at a great value. Shared rooms are spacious and bright, with sunny windows looking out onto Canal Street. The recently renovated property was once a historic hotel and notorious artists' hangout, and maintains its style through features like the local artwork throughout the hotel, and open space bar downstairs.
Tip During Mardi Gras, most major parades roll down St. Charles directly in front of the Quisby. Book ahead of time for an affordable front row view of the action.

Room
At the Quisby you can pay per bed for a shared room with six or four travelers. There’s a small two-bed private (1 bunk) option, or you can book an entire room for a family or group of friends. Bunk beds are custom made for the property by a local woodworker, and each bed comes with a private locker and some storage space.
You Should Know It might seem unnerving for some guests that all beds here are bunk beds, but note that custom bed frames aren't noisy and rickety like your childhood bed, and all have comfortable, XL twin mattresses and nice linens.
Bathroom
Shared bathrooms are bright and modern with porcelain features and large, tiled showers. Bathrooms also feature shelves for extra storage.
Lobby
The lobby has an industrial yet warm feel to it, an open floor plan with simple wooden features and green columns original to the building. There's a bar, work area and small living room. Tall front windows look out onto St. Charles Avenue.
Dining
The bar serves Zapps potato chips and bagged ramen from Japan. The bar will occasionally host a themed dinner, with simple meals like pasta available for an affordable price.
Drinking
The bar is hip yet inviting, serving coffee, beer and shot specials, and a menu of the bartender's craft inventions.

Getting Around
There's ample street parking on St. Charles and side streets (except during Mardi Gras). The St. Charles streetcar stops directly in front of the hostel, taking you Uptown in one direction and to the French Quarter in the other.
Restaurants
New from top chef contest Isaac Toups is Toups South (8-minute walk), and airy restaurant serving some of the best meat and modern Cajun creations the city offers. Hidden on a side street behind the hostel, you'll be glad you found 14 Parishes (2-minute walk), a cozy, family-run spot serving tasty Jamaican cuisine.
Bars
For an alternative night out when you've tired of Bourbon Street, head to the Zietgiest Multidisciplinary Arts Center (10-minute walk) for an indy movie or documentary screening (they also serve wine and beer). Across the street, Casa Borrega (9-minute walk) has a stylish courtyard, live music, and great selection of tequila and mezcal.
