MOXY New Orleans

Why We Like It

Let's face it: Some people come to New Orleans to party. This hotel lets you do just that.

Fodor's Expert Review

Aimed to please a party-going, millenial crowd, this younger Marriott sibling—with its hashtag-laden walls, quirky vending machine, and 24-hour bar serving as check-in desk—has surprisingly comfortable accommodations.

You Should Know While rooms are fairly quiet, the hotel markets to younger, larger groups, and this vibe (as well as the loud bar and ongoing party in the lobby) can be unappealing for some travelers.

Room

Rooms decor is simple and modern. A standard doesn't have much square feet, but beds are comfortable and restful.

Tip The best deal for a group is to book one or several Queen/Queen suites (there is one on each floor), where two full queen bedrooms adjoin and share a bathroom.

Bathroom

Small bathrooms are clean and modern, with narrow, subway-tiled showers.

Lobby

The loungey bar and lobby offer several comfortable seating areas, board games, quirky coffee table books, and foosball. The lobby becomes crowded with groups during happy hour and sometimes well into the night. Receive a complimentary cocktail at check-in.

Gym

A small gym offers some cardio and weights options, with a pink Schwinn turned-stationary bike that is perhaps more stylish than useful.

Dining

The bar serves several types of naan (Indian flatbread) sandwiches, including breakfast varieties. Youthful snacks like goldfish and candy are offered in jars by the bar throughout the day.

Drinking

There is a full bar offering cocktails, beer, and wine, for your libation needs 24 hours a day. The signature drinks are quite tasty, and it's a good place to end or begin your night.

Tip The grab-and-go offerings by the bar are alluringly convenient, but be prepared to pay inflated mini bar prices for things like bottled water.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Walk to both Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue streetcar lines, or to the French Quarter. Parking options are expensive in this neighborhood, and you won't need a car while you're here.

Restaurants

Though it's often crowded, the classic Acme Oyster House (8-minute walk) is worth a visit or two for fried oysters. CLEO's (1-minute walk) serves late night, cheap Mediterranean food, and Domenica (3-minute walk) is some of the best pizza in the city.

Bars

No trip is complete without a sazerac or Ramos Gin Fizz from The Sazerac Bar (2-minute walk), and Cajun Mike's Pub (2-minute walk) is a classic hole-in-the-wall sports bar.
