Lafitte Guest House
1003 Bourbon St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70116, USAWhy We Like It
Some corners of this historic house are more rundown than your typical chain hotel, but period pieces and features like original fireplaces, chandeliers and exposed brick add charm to every room. The location is on the farthest corner of Bourbon Street, where the French Quarter transforms from tours and parties to a pleasant residential area, and this location gives you the best of both worlds.
Fodor's Expert Review
At this French-style manor with polished digs and attentive staff, guests can choose from several rooms with balconies or windows looking out onto Bourbon Street. Enjoy the run of a communal kitchen and private courtyard, with quick access to many sights and sounds of the Quarter.
You Should Know Refined guest rooms look out onto what can be a very rambunctious corner of Bourbon Street. Prepare for some noise from the street even at late hours.

First floor rooms are most affordable, second floor rooms have private or shared balconies, and the spacious loft at the house's top has fabulous views of the city.

All lodgings have small, private bathrooms. Good enough for us!

Getting Around
The hotel is happy to provide private parking for $30/a day. Street parking will be hard to come by, and expect some traffic in the Quarter. A new streetcar line on Rampart Street (4-minute walk) can connect you to the Marigny, CBD, Uptown, and Mid City.
Restaurants
Meauxbar (4-minute walk) serves refined classics, like escargot and gulf fish almandine, with refreshingly bright, modern flavor. Whether at the beginning or end of a long night of barhopping, locals and tourists alike rave about the large, greasy burger at Port of Call (6-minute walk).
