While the lavender color scheme and modern decor doesn't have much New Orleans character, rooms are big and comfortable, and up to Hyatt standards. Deluxe rooms share access to a balcony.

Bathrooms have marble vanities and walk-in showers lined in subway tiles, or bathtub shower combinations.

A large saltwater pool is in an inner deck surrounded by the walls of the hotel. The pool deck is full of lounge chairs, and there is a small pool bar.

Surrounded by mirrored walls, this mid-sized fitness center has four treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and free weight and stretching equipment.
Tip For those looking to sweat while seeing the sights, the front desk can provide running and walking maps of the city.
Dining
Redfish Grill, founded by notable local restaurateur Ralph Brennan, strives to bring guests versions of pretty much every New Orleans classic: crawfish, boudin, oysters, and, of course, red fish (among other favorite gulf fish). Other dining options include a decent Hard Rock Cafe (American pub fare) and Powdered Sugar, with casual Southern breakfasts and lunches as well as grab-and-go options.
Drinking
Both Batch Bar and the Hard Rock Cafe feature live music most nights and drink specials. Batch Bar has more of a lounge vibe than the casual Hard Rock facing Bourbon Street: be sure to try Batch's bacon-infused bourbon Manhattan.
Tip The poolside bar serves beer, wine, and tropical cocktails.

From Canal Street (2-minute walk), one streetcar line runs up to Mid City and City Park; another runs Uptown and to the Garden District.

Deanie's Seafood (1-minute walk) has your fix of southern fried specialties. Make a reservation at Galatoire's (2-minute walk) to marvel in the old school atmosphere of the dining room, and try fresh gulf fish served fried, poached, sauteed, or broiled.
Bars
Old Absinthe House (3-minute walk) is a classic French Quarter dive, and Carousel Bar (4-minute walk) is the fancier option for classic cocktails and old school charm.
