Why We Like It

It’s a rare little oasis among the big hotel chains of downtown. The digs and its details are adorable, and the vibe is welcoming and personal.

Fodor's Expert Review

A stylish boutique hotel with outdoor hangout spaces, tucked away on a small side street in the middle of downtown.

Room

Simple and modern with good lighting, exposed brick, and Louisiana Cypress wood furniture. Some premium rooms have private balconies.

Tip Room size varies to accommodate every modern traveler, from the economical bunk room (four twin beds total, and little else) to the Master Bedroom, replete with a living room, double shower, and balcony.

Bathroom

There are rainfall showerheads in every bathroom. There are also AVEDA products. It's good.

Lobby

The lobby is a comfortable, stylish lounge area with a full coffee bar—somewhere you’d want to hang out even if you weren’t staying at the hotel, probably.

Dining

The Pisco Bar offers Peruvian cuisine centered around fresh fish and vegetables, peppers, and bright citrusy flavors, with ceviche and many vegetarian choices on the menu.

Drinking

The small black and white tiled bar off of the lobby is quaint and friendly, with knowledgeable bartenders and a sophisticated selection of spirits. The bar program is built off of Pisco, the Peruvian brandy, with inventive cocktails and dynamic service. Head out to the courtyard, or up to the rooftop terrace bar for cocktail sipping in good weather.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The best way to explore downtown and the French Quarter is on foot, where you can then easily find the St. Charles Streetcar (to head uptown) or the Canal Streetcar (toward Mid City, City Park, and the cemeteries) when you’re ready to venture beyond.

Restaurants

Merchant (4-minute walk) is a modern coffee bar great for crepes and light lunch. Company Burger (8-minute walk) is a NOLA favorite for a just-plain-good burger, and Magasin Kitchen next door serves fresh, tasty Vietnamese cuisine.

Bars

The Catahoula is a great place to stay if you’d like to hit a show at The Saenger, The Civic, Orpheum, or Joy theaters, or even the Superdome or Smoothie King Center (5-10 minute walk to any of those). When you're not at the Pisco Bar, try Cellardoor (8-minute walk) for intimate cocktails and small plates.
