Bourbon Orleans Hotel
717 Orleans St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70130, USAWhy We Like It
For a pretty affordable rate (ranging from $130, up to $280 during peak season), you can expect above-average decor and comfort in a convenient setting. The pool area is one of our favorite features of the hotel: it’s quite spacious for a French Quarter pool, and the design of the courtyard makes it feel private and serene.

Room
Clean, modern rooms with pillow top mattresses, iHome docks, and French antique-style furniture. Select guest rooms have traditional wrought iron balconies overlooking the French Quarter, and select suites offer balconies over Bourbon Street.
You Should Know The party on (and around) Bourbon Street is truly 24-hours, and rooms facing the street can be noisy throughout the night. Request a courtyard-facing room for a quieter experience.
Bathroom
Roomy, with granite counter tops and walk-in showers.
Tip Request a bathrobe with the front desk.
Lobby
With high ceilings, chandeliers, and marble floors, the grand lobby is a nod to the building’s history. The attached Orleans Ballroom, where the hotel often hosts weddings, dates back to 1817 and was once the site of the historic Orleans Theater Later in 19th century the entire original structure was sold as convent, where it served the nuns for 83 years.
Pool
Four walls of the hotel surround a large saltwater pool and stone courtyard, complete with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and small tables.
Gym
The fitness center has a few cardio machines, a free weight and stretching area, wall length mirrors, and complimentary water.
Dining
Roux on Orleans is a full service restaurant with affordable, Creole-flavored entrees like burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. The Bourbon O bar also offers “Bar Bites,” like chips and sliders.
Drinking
The Bourbon "O" Bar is a good place to try the classy classics (Ramos Gin Fizz, Vieux Carre, even traditionally prepared absinthe) while people-watching on Bourbon street. There is live jazz around 8 p.m. each night.

Getting Around
The hotel offers valet parking for a fee, but traffic is predictably slow this far into the French Quarter, and your best bet is to get around on foot. You can walk to the street car on Canal Street to go Uptown, to the Garden District, or toward Mid City.
Restaurants
Veer off of Bourbon street for the best food: try Doris Metropolitan New Orleans (4-minute walk) if you want to splurge on great cocktails and quality steak, or Cafe Amelie (4-minute walk) for typical but refined New Orleans cuisine in a romantic atmosphere. Stanley’s (4-minute walk) or Court of Two Sisters (2-minute walk) are good for a Creole-style indulgent brunch.
