When You Arrive

The Big Island's two main airports are almost directly across the island from each other. Kona International Airport, on the west side, is about a 10-minute drive from Kailua-Kona and 30 to 45 minutes from the Kohala Coast. On the east side, Hilo International Airport, 2 miles from downtown Hilo, is about 40 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. A 2½-hour drive connects Hilo and Kailua-Kona.
