Fodor's Expert Review Georgian Terrace
659 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30308, USA
Enrico Caruso and other stars of the Metropolitan Opera once stayed in this fine 1911 hotel across the street from the Fox Theatre. The columned lobby is striking, and breathtaking terraces traverse the exterior, making it a popular venue for wedding receptions. The street-level Edgar's P&P bar serves up craft cocktails and delicious nibbles made with in-house ingredients amid an equally inviting scene. Livingston Restaurant's seafood is a high point, and simple sides such as roasted Brussels sprouts are excellent.
PROS
- the front terrace is a great place for people-watching
- proximity to the Fox makes upscale in-house restaurant Livingston a convenient pretheater choice
- rooftop pool and penthouse-level fitness room offer incredible city views
CONS
- rates more in line with legacy of hotel than accommodations
- postshow and rush-hour traffic is tough to navigate
- hotel is officially no-smoking but guests may smell smoke
