Fishing

In August 2015, the Animas River was flooded with a toxic chemical spill, a byproduct of an abandoned metal mine. According to tests done by the E.P.A., the water has returned to pre-spill quality (approved for recreational use), although sediment remains on the bottom of the river. The main thing it could affect long-term are the fish, but no one knows for sure and it may be years before we know what the effect might be.
