Fodor's Expert Review The Crawford Hotel

1701 Wynkoop St., Denver, Colorado, 80202, USA Fodor's Choice

The lobby here—which guests can view from each floor—is the impressively renovated Union Station, a retro delight of desks with chain-pull lamps, long wooden benches, and constant bustle; the nostalgic sense of being on a train journey is carried elegantly into the 112 rooms, each of which offers a unique layout and design. The Pullman rooms on the train-track side are fully soundproofed and decorated with mahogany and train-themed art; other rooms might feature exposed beams, oversized windows for views of LoDo, or lofted ceilings. In-room iPads for easy navigation around the hotel and town, soft leather upholstery, and beige and white linens and accents are hallmarks of all rooms. With 12 bars and restaurants, there's something for everyone: Snooze ($) and Pigtrain Coffee Company ($) for breakfast; ACME Delicatessen ($) or ACME Pizzeria ($) for a fast lunch or quick dinner; modern American at Mercantile Dining & Provisions ($$$$) and The Kitchen Next Door ($$); fresh seafood at Stoic & Genuine ($$$$) or small plates at Ultreia ($$$$); and Milkbox Ice Creamery ($) for dessert. There are also a couple of lounges, including the casual ground-floor Terminal Bar and the retro Cooper Lounge on the top floor, with its views straight up 17th Street and vintage suitcases as decor touches.
