San Francisco's 5 Best B&Bs
Bed and breakfasts might feel like the domain of your aging aunt, but these stellar San Francisco B&Bs promise to upend your idea of shared breakfasts around a long table, and chatty hosts. Sure all the hosts on the list are lovely (and you will love to talk to them), however this is a list of the city's best bed and breakfasts for decor and delightful cuisine.
The Inn at the Presidio
Why it made the list
Far from the traditional picture of a B&B, this handsome former officers' quarters are now upscale rooms deep in the Presidio National Recreation Area. Expect the royal treatment with a fanciful breakfast spread and an ample wine hour offering as well.
White Swan Inn
Why it made the list
Travel to England in the Union Square property, a long-time San Francisco favorite. The decor is heavy on antiques. The staff serves a lovely morning spread. And the service is as lovely as the name implies.
The Parker Guest House
Why it made the list
Catering to the LGBTQ crowd, this lovely house on the edge of Dolores Park isn't hawking luxury, rather sophistication and comfort. The nice gardens make a great place to relax in the mornings with coffee.
The Parsonage
Why it made the list
Attention to detail, kindly hosts that truly make guests feel at home, and the ambiance of this historic structure rate this inn high on our list. Breakfasts are quite good, and rooms feature well-kept antiques.
Union Street Inn
Why it made the list
Our favorite B&B in town relies heavily on its pedigree--the owner was once a royal chef. Clearly the food is divine, but the highlights go beyond breakfast (and afternoon tea and treats). A lovely Marina location, a well-tended garden, and aesthetically-pleasing rooms make us swoon.
