Liberty Station

From 1923 to 1997, Liberty Station served as the Naval Training Center (NTC) where 1.75 million Navy recruits and 1 million A and C school sailors were trained. Following its 70 years of operation, Liberty Station was transformed into a 361-acre center for dining, shopping, art, entertainment, and history. Since its rebirth in 2000, Liberty Station never lost touch with its historic roots, demonstrated in the architecture and barracks repurposed for modern-day use. The center of the action is Liberty Public Market, once used as the Naval Training Center mess hall. In 2023 Liberty Station celebrated its 100-year impact on San Diego.
