Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Airport
2592 Laning Rd., San Diego, California, 92106, United States, San Diego, California, USAWhy We Like It
Staying near the airport isn’t for everybody, but it’s a convenient option, especially for shorter stays. This Courtyard Marriott on the waterfront features clean, contemporary rooms and a pool with views of the city skyline in the distance. It’s also walking-distance close to Liberty Station, a mixed-use development with locals-approved eateries, shops, and galleries.
Fodor's Expert Review
This Courtyard Marriott is close to the airport, but it’s not in the middle of nowhere. Nestled on the waterfront near a 46-acre park, the hotel is a pleasant 10-minute walk from Liberty Station, a mixed-use development with restaurants, art galleries, and a daily public market. From the hotel, it’s a 15 or 20-minute drive from the hotel to Downtown, Balboa Park/San Diego Zoo, and SeaWorld. A pool and city skyline views are also pluses.
You Should Know The “waterfront” is on an inlet, not the actual bay.

What's Nearby
Getting Around
The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. If you’re planning to do a lot of exploring during your visit, consider renting a car to get around; hotel parking is $14 a day and the rental drop-off center is minutes away. The hotel isn’t exactly close to major freeways, but it’s not that hard to get to them either.
Restaurants
When it comes to food and drink, nearby Liberty Station (a mixed-use development on a former naval station) has got you covered. Breakfast Republic (5-minute drive or 20-minute walk) is a quirky spot with playful dishes like s’mores French toast, candied bacon, and pancake flights. They also serve craft beer and cocktails to make your rise-and-shine even finer. Officine Buona Forchetta (7-minute drive or 20-minute walk) serves up Italian fare like pasta and Neapolitan-style pizza in an industrial-chic setting. Try to snag the vintage Fiat converted into a table for two, or dine alfresco on one of the casual eatery’s two patios. There are options in Liberty Station that are closer to the hotel, but these are two of the best.
