Why We Like It

This upscale experience is still accessible to families looking for more of a polished experience than a unique one, though the sand-covered pool entrance is pretty extraordinary. For travelers looking to golf, the on-site courses and other nearby options are a definite draw. The location farther down valley put this resort the same driving distance from L.A. and San Diego.

Fodor's Expert Review

This Marriott property hosts two golf courses and a full-service spa. Adjacent to the Indian Wells Golf Resort, this large, tan building has a gorgeous patinated copper roof and copper portico—a unique look compared to most other resorts in the Coachella Valley.

Room

The rooms in this large property are dressed in classic style, with white linens, pillow top duvets, and white exposed beam ceilings. Rooms include mini fridges, workspace, complimentary bottled water, and private balconies.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are equipped with marble-topped counters and complimentary toiletries. All rooms have showers, but some have a whirlpool tub option, including a whirlpool tub just steps from the bed!

Lobby

With wall-to-wall windows, the emphasis is definitely on the magnificent atrium.

Pool

A “Sandy Beach” pool entrance means there’s actual beach sand leading to the pool—quite the unique touch. The outdoor pool area also has a hot tub.

Spa

The spa and salon provides services for men, women, and couples. Body treatments, like scrubs and wraps, can be combined with massages. Salon services include makeup, nail care, waxing, and paraffin hand treatments to undo damage caused by the dry, desert climate. A steam room, therapy baths, and separate lounges for men and women are also provided.

Gym

The 24-hour center includes standard cardio equipment and free weights as well as group fitness classes (including water aerobics).

Dining

The coffee kiosk, Cafe Biscotti, serves Starbucks brand coffee as well as pastries. CAVA serves American fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Glo Sushi and Sirocco Pizza Company are open for dinner service only.

Drinking

The resort has two designated bar areas: Glo Lounge and The Pool Bar. Glo Lounge is more of a nightlife spot, while The Pool Bar is the poolside space to grab a drink or snack.

Kaiser Grille Palm Desert (7-minute drive) is an area mainstay for steaks and seafood, while The Nest (6-minute drive) is classic spot for steaks and escargot and a buzzy bar. Bars

For wine and cheese, head down to La Fe Wine Bar (11-minute drive), also in El Paseo Shopping District. Clothier Tommy Bahama has a popular restaurant and bar, Tommy Bahama’s Restaurant and Bar (9-minute drive), serving Caribbean rum drinks and martinis. The live entertainment at Vicky’s of Santa Fe (4-minute drive) is a lovely experience in a delightful atmosphere.
