Viceroy L'Ermitage

Why We Like It

Understated luxury is one way to describe this hideaway, and discerning guests will love the hotel’s privacy, discretion and lack of ostentation. Though it’s not exactly walking distance to restaurants, shopping or attractions, it’s still in the middle of the city and only a short car ride away from anything you could want. The hotel caters to a luxury traveler but also has welcome packages for families and pets. The homey, residential abode is the perfect place for celebs to go unnoticed and for you to pretend not to notice them while the staff treats you all like family.

Fodor's Expert Review

Close enough to downtown Beverly Hills for access to dining and shopping, but far enough away to feel removed from the bustle, the Viceroy L’Ermitage is a five-star gem situated on a residential street, away from prying eyes. High-class clients enjoy the privacy this tucked away abode offers, along with tip-top service and amenities. Like its neighborhood, the hotel has a homey, residential feel, and the staff ensures you maintain that feeling throughout your stay.

Tip If you want to remain hidden away from any potential paparazzi encounters because you are a celebrity, the hotel offers clients a private underground entrance.

Room

This all-suite hotel pampers guests with a variety of amenities. Whether it’s a customizable welcome gift and drink, standard free Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffee machines or the Sferra imported Italian linens, this hotel knows how to treat its customers. Most rooms have balconies and nearly all have vanity mirrors with customizable lighting inside a dressing room to get you ready for the red carpet (or wherever you're going).

Tip Because of the amazing mirrors and dressing rooms, the hotel rooms are often booked for celebrity junkets. You never know who you might see.

Bathroom

Giant, sunken tubs are surrounded by marble and the mirrors come with built-in TVs for morning news junkies. Roil Amanda George products are used for shampoo and conditioner while Natura Bisse is used for soaps and lotions.

Lobby

The lobby has a residential air about it mixed with an art museum vibe, as impressive pieces hang from the walls. Comfy ottomans and plush couches give guests a cozy place to work or just relax with a drink.

Pool

A rooftop pool feels like a desert oasis with white sunchairs and cabanas. The guests-only spot features full food and beverage service and is sometimes closed off for private events.

Spa

The small spa has two treatment areas and men’s and women’s lockers with steam rooms. The spa offers body wraps, facials and decadent massages.

Gym

A fully-equipped fitness center is decked out with Technogym treadmills, free weights, kettle bells and more.

Tip The hotel also offers rooftop yoga classes. Check out the Astroturf area by the pool and follow it around to a peaceful space to start your day.

Dining

Avec Nous is a classic French bistro and the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. An elongated bar is great for quick eaters and a private wine cellar is an oenophiles dream.

Drinking

Not exactly a party hotel, though the bar at Avec Nous has a stellar wine list.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

There’s no metro access here and walking in this area is pretty limited to house hunting and hotels. Luckily, the hotel can drive you around in their complimentary house Maserati! We’d also recommend renting a car or hailing a ride service to get around town.

Restaurants

Looking for Italian instead of French? Head to the Four Seasons (7-minute walk) and try Culina for modern Italian fare. For a sceney lunch spot, check out The Ivy (5-minute drive) for celebrity sightings and also for if you’re dying to know what a $35 salad tastes like. You Should Know: The $35 salad tastes like a regular salad.

Bars

Toca Madera (7-minute drive) is a chic Mexican bar and restaurant with a dressy crowd and craft cocktails. For a great cocktail experience, head to Bar Centro at the SLS Hotel (5-minute drive) during their 6-7 pm tasting hour. There you’ll be introduced to inventive drinks and monthly specials from one-of-a-kind mixologists.
