The Redbury

Why We Like It

This hotel is great in its style and simplicity. While you won’t get amenities like a pool or spa, you will get a location that is in the epicenter of Hollywood’s nightlife. The Library Bar at the hotel is a fun place to drink, and Cleo and Katsuya aren’t too shabby from a dining option standpoint. Rooms are fun and funky and record players allow you to have a dance party right inside the suite. If you’re looking for Hollywood nightlife and want to be on the corner of "dreams," then The Redbury might just be the place for you.

Fodor's Expert Review

A bohemian-chic hotel, The Redbury sits on the infamous corner of Hollywood and Vine, home to broken stardom dreams and unlocked creative potential. The hotel was partially inspired by Lenny Kravitz and combines old glam Hollywood with a rocker edge. A young, and oft-rowdy crowd stays here to be in the heart of the action, close to clubs, bars and a desire to pretend like they are a rich and famous person.

Room

The all-suite hotel rooms come complete with kitchens, dining areas and mismatched avant-garde furniture. Many rooms are equipped with record players. Small balconies are great for people-watching on the Hollywood Walk of Fame down below.

Bathroom

There isn’t a whole lot to the bathrooms--showers with black tile and Ciel bath products are typical.

Lobby

There are two (sort of) lobby areas of the hotel. On the ground level, black and white-checkered floors lead guests into the Market Bar coffee shop and beyond to the hotel restaurant, Cleo. Venturing through a giant velvet red curtain, visitors climb upstairs to the reception desk, where they’ll find shabby-chic couches mixed with argyle carpeting and giant framed portraits of Hollywood starlets.

Dining

Cleo, by LA nightlife group SBE, is only open for dinner and is the hotel’s main restaurant known for its creative Mediterranean/Asian fusion cuisine. Market Bar is a guest-only breakfast area on the ground floor.

Tip Also owned by SBE is a sushi joint called Katsuya--it's right next door. Guests will be excited to learn that all in-room dining is catered by this Japanese hotspot.

Drinking

The Library is the hotel’s rooftop indoor/outdoor lounge. Not always the easiest to get in, the place has a pool table, comfy couches, hidden nooks and either live music or hit DJs Friday and Saturday nights. There’s also a solid happy hour from 5-7pm.

Tip Because SBE owns the hotel, ask them for help getting into one of the many SBE-owned nightclub properties around the city.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Down the street from the hotel is the Hollywood/Vine Train Station that can usher you to Downtown LA, Universal Studios or even Santa Monica. Right outside the door is the Hollywood Walk of Fame that can lead you through Hollywood history and dozens of restaurants, bars, clubs and attractions. For easy shuttling, hail a cab or ride service with Uber or Lyft--tons of drivers in this area.

Walking around at night is safe, but Hollywood attracts a slightly crazy element from time to time. Just keep your wits about you when you’re stumbling out of the bars and clubs at 2am--or just walking around at any time, really.

Restaurants

Katsuya (2-minute walk) has consistently good sushi and a decked-out crowd who pre-game before a night at the clubs. Shake Shack (4-minute walk) is a gourmet burger joint taking LA by storm.

Bars

Electronic music lovers will die and go to heaven at Avalon Hollywood next door to the hotel. Sports junkies will find endless screens, apps and beer at 33 Taps across the street.
