Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard
11461 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90049, United StatesWhy We Like It
Understated yet luxurious, the Luxe is a great hideaway for anyone looking for privacy, service and discretion. An elite clientele stays here to both get away from the city and have immediate access to it at the same time. While it’s not ideal from a walking standpoint, within a short ride you’re close enough to major museums and cultural centers as well as restaurants, bars and shops. For total relaxation, stay in the resort building at the top of the hill and you’ll feel like you have the entire hotel to yourself.
Fodor's Expert Review
The Luxe Sunset property is like two hotels in one--though both cater to the same privacy concerned and discerning clientele that is comprised of high-end business travelers, summer family vacationers and retreat-seeking rich people. In the main building, a traditional hotel style gives well-heeled customers a level of comfort where most amenities are at their fingertips. In the resort building (accessible via golf cart), visitors can while away the days, surrounded by mountains and isolated from the rest of the hotel’s hubbub.

Room
Nearly every spacious room has either a balcony or patio and all come with free Wi-Fi in-room Keurig coffeemakers and TVs that allow guests to stream Netflix or Hulu from their own accounts. For families, there are rooms with bunkbeds, and for dog-lovers, there are special areas with hardwood floors and access to outdoor space for doggie business.
You Should Know If you bring you dog, there is a hefty one-time fee of $250.
Bathroom
Most bathrooms come with standard shower/tub combos, but the higher end suites feature sunken soaking tubs with separate showers and high-end bath products.
Lobby
A simple lobby is awash in grayish tones with white marble floors and traditional styled furniture. It’s mostly a waiting area for checking in or checking out.
Pool
The pool is up the hill by the resort building and serves food and drinks for locals and guests. The surrounding cabanas are first-come-first-serve and the expansive deck has fire pits to huddle around at night.
Gym
A very small gym is equipped with Precor machines and free weights.
Tip If you want to get a mind and body workout, there’s complimentary in-room Yogaworks instructions and yoga mats.
Dining
The main hotel restaurant serves an eclectic northern Mediterranean menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. An outdoor patio lets diners eat and drink under the sun or stars.
You Should Know If you’re at the hotel around any major holidays, just be aware that they do large family-style brunches that get incredibly crowded.
Drinking
The Luxe Lounge is a boozy hangout that attracts neighborhood locals and guests to sip and socialize throughout the week. Besides craft cocktails and a great wine list, the lounge also hosts live jazz on occasion.
What's Nearby
Getting Around
Because the hotel is so tucked away, it’s not ideal for walking to any restaurants, bars or shops. The hotel does provide a complimentary car service though that can drop you off within a 3-mile radius. Flagging a taxi isn’t the easiest either as this hotel isn’t on the most pedestrian-trafficked route. We recommend renting a car if you stay here--especially since you’re directly off the 405 Freeway that can get you around the city quickly--if you don’t drive during rush hours, which is, unfortunately, most of the day (you have a window inbetween 10 am and 3 pm, usually).
Restaurants
There isn’t much within walking distance, but down the road in Brentwood, guests can choose between a slew of Italian restaurants like Divino, Peppone and Maria’s Italian Kitchen (3-minute drive and all next to each other). Farther down the road is the sceney steak and cocktail joint Baltaire (5-minute drive)
