These companies want you to spoil your dog today, and this hotel is a pretty good place to do it.
Today, Friday, August 10, is National Spoil Your Dog Day. How exactly do you spoil your dog? Well, Orbitz, Rover.com, spcaLA, and healthyspot came together earlier this week to host a pet-friendly Happy Hour at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica, California, that featured some pretty good examples of how to primp your pooch.
Founded in 2007, healthyspot is a pet grooming company that has stores throughout Southern California with a full range of high-quality treats and accessories for your pet(s) and such services as pet dental care, nutrition consultations, and obedience training. Happy Hour at the Fairmount included a full pet grooming.
The companies hosting the Happy Hour spotlighted four shelter dogs available for adoption at the Happy Hour event: Crow, Pip, Rambo, and Ru. healthyspot got up close and personal to clip each pup’s nails, brush and groom them, and apply a natural moisturizer to their paws–a full mani/pedi for the very good boys.
The other sponsors were offering less glam but just as necessary services as well. SpcLA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles)–the nonprofit organization that rescued these dogs and put them up for adoption–has been running programs and hosting shelters to support the wellbeing of animals in Los Angeles since 1877. SpcaLA agreed to waive each dog’s adoption fee until Sunday, August 12. Rover, a network of pet sitters and dog walkers, boasts “Whether you need a dog walker for the day or dog boarding for a month, there’s a Rover sitter who’s the perfect match for you, your pets, and your lifestyle.” Caregivers are easily accessed through the app, which offers sitters in more than 14,000 cities (just in case you need a pooch-free happy hour).

The event also highlighted Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows “pet-menities” and spaces offered by the luxury hotel that your dog will love, including a stay in one of the property’s bungalows (it has more than 30) which contain decadent treats, plush dogs beds, and adorable toys. The five-acre property, located just across from Santa Monica Beach, has an aesthetic that can only be described as tropical luxury. Palm trees and secluded gardens can be found throughout, and a walk (with your dog in-hand, of course) around the grounds truly feels like you’ve entered an oasis, including waterfalls. Your pup would be more than happy to join you at the hotel’s Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, FIG, for brunch, or stop in for a signature cheese-tasting (the restaurant boasts its very own fromager aka “cheese guru”).
