Skiing

Sunrise Park Resort. In winter and early spring, skiers and other snow lovers flock to Sunrise Park Resort. There's plenty more than downhill and cross-country skiing here, including snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and sleigh rides. The resort has 10 lifts and 65 trails on three mountains rising to 11,000 feet. Eighty percent of the downhill runs are for beginning or intermediate skiers, and many less-intense trails begin at the top, so skiers of varying skill levels can ride the chairlifts together. There's a "ski-wee" hill for youngsters. The Sunrise Express high-speed chairlift anchors the 10 lifts. One-day lift tickets are $68. Sunrise's Snowboard Park has jumps of all difficulty levels and its own sound system, and is exclusively for snowboarders—so there's no tension on the hill between boarders and skiers. Cross-country skiers enjoy 13½ miles of interconnecting trails. You can rent equipment at the ski shop. In summer a marina is open for boat rentals on Sunrise Lake.
