Visitor Information

Tourisme-Montréal, the city tourist office, doesn't operate an information service for the public, but its website has a wealth of well-organized information.

In Québec City, the Québec City Region Tourism and Convention Bureau's visitor information center in Montcalm is open June 21–to August 31, daily 9–7; September through October, daily 9–6; and November 1–June 20, daily 9–5. A mobile information service operates between mid-June and September 7 (look for the mopeds marked with a big question mark).

The Québec government tourism department, Tourisme Québec, has a center open September–June 20, daily 9–5; and June 21–August 31, daily 8:30–7. Tourisme Québec can provide information on specific towns' tourist bureaus.

In the Laurentians, the major tourist office is the Association Touristique des Laurentides, just off Route des Laurentides 15 Nord at Exit 51 in Les Portes des Nord service center. The office is open mid-June–September, daily 8:30–7; October–mid-June, daily 9–5. Mont-Tremblant, Piedmont/St-Sauveur, Ste-Adèle, St-Adolphe-d'Howard, Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, St-Eustache, St-Jovite, and Val-David have regional tourist offices that are open year-round. Seasonal tourist offices (open mid-June–early September) are in Ferme Neuve, Grenville, Labelle, Lac-du-Cerf, Lachute, Nominique, Notre-Dame-du-Laus, Oka, St-Jérôme, Ste-Marguerite-Estérel, and St-Sauveur.

In the Eastern Townships, year-round regional provincial tourist offices are in Bromont, Coaticook, Granby, Lac-Mégantic, Magog-Orford, Sherbrooke, and Sutton. Seasonal tourist offices (open June–early September) are in Birchton, Cowansville, Danville, Dudswell, Dunham, Eastman, Frelighsburg, Lac-Brome (Foster), Lambton, Masonsville, Pike River, Ulverton, and Waterloo. The schedules of seasonal bureaus are irregular, so it's a good idea to contact the Association Touristique des Cantons de l'Est before visiting. This association also provides lodging information.

At the Beaupré Coast Interpretation Center, in a former convent, guides in costume explain displays on the history of the region. Admission is C$6. The center is open daily from 9 to 5 from June 24 to Labor Day. The rest of the year, call to find out their opening hours. For information about Canadian national parks in Québec, contact Parks Canada. Contact Sépaq for information about camping and lodgings in Québec province's network of 22 "Parcs Nationaux" and 15 game reserves (réserves fauniques). For information on camping in the province's private trailer parks and campgrounds, request the free publication "Québec Camping," from Tourisme Québec.

Association de l'Agrotourisme et du Tourisme Gourmand du Québec (also known as Terroirs et Saveurs), the Québec farm-vacation association, can provide lists of guest farms in the province.
