Fodor's Expert Review Le Mas des Oliviers
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Search for a textbook definition of "classic French Bistro" and you'll find Le Mas des Oliviers. It's been around since 1966 and the owners pride themselves on the menu items, some of which, like the fish soup, have been on the menu 40-plus years. The dining room looks the part and will transport you to Provence with its white tablecloths, dark wood beams, exposed brick walls, and French art posters on the walls. The staff ups the elegance with vests and ties. Other popular menu staples include lamb shank and veal with mushrooms. Not surprisingly, the kitchen does excellent frogs' legs à la provençale and escargots bourguignons.
