Fodor's Expert Review LHotel

262 rue St-Jacques Ouest, Montréal, Québec, H2Y 1N1, Canada

Housed in a stately 19th-century bank in the financial district, the dignified facade accurately suggests the grand interior with its high ceilings, antique furnishings, and large windows. Yet the iconic Robert Indiana Love sculpture outside hints at the more exuberant decor within: a bright art deco breakfast room; a bar with a jarring melange of stripes, colors and textures; and an extraordinary contemporary art collection featuring a parade of works by Andy Warhol, Fernando Botero, Marc Chagall, and more.

PROS

  • Botero wine bar has distinct character
  • spacious high-ceiling rooms
  • excellent art collection and close to other galleries

CONS

  • some rooms are dated
  • buffet continental breakfast is pricey and not included
  • rue St-Jacques is dull after 6 pm
