Souris

A pretty town perched on the water, Souris (pronounced "Surrey") gives easy access to PEI’s essential sights and sounds. The seascape includes harbors, lighthouses, and bountiful beaches. There’s music in the salt air, too, thanks to the seasonal ceilidhs and outdoor concerts Souris hosts (the events calendar at www.sourispei.com has full details), including performances at the town's new theater and concert venue, The Centre Stage (formerly St. James United Church). You’ll hear more five minutes away in Rollo Bay, which holds the PEI Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival (902/566–2641 peibluegrass.tripod.com) in early July and the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival midmonth (902/687–2584 www.rollobayfiddlefest.ca).
