Fodor's Expert Review Brier Island Lodge and Restaurant
557 Water St., Westport, Nova Scotia, B0V 1H0, Canada
Atop a bluff at Nova Scotia's most westerly point, this three-building complex commands a panoramic view of the Bay of Fundy. Rooms are comfortable enough and most overlook the water, but you'll likely spend the bulk of your time outside. Whale- and bird-watching and hiking are the top activities; closer to home there are hens, goats, sheep, and some friendly dogs to delight children. Seafood is a specialty in the attractive restaurant.
PROS
- discounts on whale-watching and nature tours
- on-site gift shop
- excellent seafood restaurant
CONS
- motel-quality rooms
- main lodge rooms lack ocean views
- Wi-Fi not always reliable
