Fodor's Expert Review Bianca
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This restaurant is known for its fine wines and its unique process for selecting them: patrons walk over to the racks and choose the one they want; the prices are on the bottles. If you don't know what you want, Bianca herself might be around to help. Her spacious restaurant, painted purple and brightened by a few well-chosen pieces of art, fronts Water Street, and panels of sheer purple hang in the windows, providing privacy by day and offering an attractive, hazily surrealistic view of passers-by at night. Seafood is the specialty—blackened salmon with chorizo, shrimp, and mussels or lobster tagliatelle with a cognac-and-lobster reduction, for instance—but the menu always includes other options, such as rack of lamb with Moroccan spices and caramelized onions.
